We’d like to lend our Support Luther Johnson V, he’s a bright young man who currently attends Christopher Columbus Highschool. He  is a two sport athlete (Lacrosse and Football), who not only boasts a 4.09 (unweighted) GPA, but also is the recipient of 15 Division I, and Division II Offers in both sports, several of which are from top tier Ivy League schools such as Yale. The main reason we are reaching out to you all today is that Luther is facing an issue he recently received a lot of attention across several social media platforms for a 20 second play that accord during a very vigorous and climactic lacrosse match about 2 months, the highlight went viral and even received the attention of several news outlets and even made it all the way to the ESPN weekly highlight blog, the play in question despite its positive implications of the video in question garnering Luther more attention from  prospective schools and scouts who would seek to offer or subsidize an college education for him, it unfortunately also grabbed the attention of the Florida Highschool Athlete Association whom after reviewing the highlight deemed his actions “malicious” and as result decided the best course of action was to suspend Luther for the entirety of his senior year, an action that would not only result in a loss of playing time, but likely a forfeit of all his previous and potential college scholarships. The film has been reviewed by several coaches, including a D-1 college lacrosse coach who’s own comments were “No more than a 1-2 minute penalty should have been called...” . Although there has been a pouring out of support on social media for Luther and he has even publicly apologized and showed remorse for actions which even college coaches deemed legal within the game of lacrosse, we still need your support. As a alumni of Christopher Columbus Highschool, a D-1athlete, and a former teammate of Luther, I not only feel for his cause but wish to be active in trying to alleviate his current issue.
