FFXIV: Give the Worlds Back to Real Players

The Issue

I come from the Crystal Data Center. Friends, raids, events, housing.

All of these suffer with the onslaught of <Wanderer> and <Traveler> tags from people that wish to clog up specific servers for ridiculous reasons.

Is there anything at all more irritating than wishing to meet up with friends to run quests or RP or peek at their housing design, only to be met with errors that the server is too congested?

Servers are getting locked down in a flip flop of congestion that never really goes away.

Why doesn't it go away?

ERP Tourists.

You can have a great PC and still suffer a terrible blow to your framerate just going into Ul'dah's Nald area. Walking past or through the Adventurer's Guild/Quicksand brings moments of sheer torture. It is very much the "Moon Guard Goldshire" of Final Fantasy XIV.

People create characters on whatever server they choose and then come out to clog up Balmung so they can stand around naked with someone else in some public area and ERP.

Now, I'm not a prude in the least, but... come on. They could do this literally on any server! They're not here for the community. They're here for a quickie with a stranger.

My proposal is to petition Square Enix to implement restrictions on Data Center AND World visitation!

Instead of allowing people to hop over as soon as they can use the aetherytes, make them wait.

Players must be level 50+ and complete a side-quest (similar to how we have had to in the past to unlock dyeing gear) before they can do so.

This would eliminate a LOT of these level 1 ERP alts right off the bat.

SE would also have the added benefit of a potential surge of purchases from the Online Store for level skips and boosts.

Will it fix the problem 100%? No.

Will it make people put in either money or effort to impact the fun we're supposed to be having? Yes.

Everywhere, people have had to get creative with all sorts of different plans to be able to play with whom they want, where they want.

The argument could be made (and will be) that WE could move to other servers.

We should not have to get out of the way of a vehicle speeding along on a sidewalk. The car shouldn't be there. It should stay in its lane, instead of being a menace. We are not in the wrong. They are.

Please consider signing this petition to plead with SE for solutions to this ongoing, growing problem!
