Make classes this semester credit/no credit at Ferris State University

Make classes this semester credit/no credit at Ferris State University
The Issue
Given the extenuating circumstances surrounding the corona virus and the move to online classes for two weeks (likely longer), Ferris State University should move to make all classes for this semester evaluated on a pass/fail or credit/no credit basis. The classes this semester should have no bearing on any students GPA. The reason for this is as follows:
- Some students may lack access to required tools to conduct their learning online.
- Some students may have difficulty learning online versus using face to face instruction. Changing learning circumstances with such short notice and no preparation will not lead to the same standard of learning or GPA outcome for most students.
- Some students may not be able to return for finals or feel as prepared for finals. This will yield a lower GPA.
- Some students are in hands on technical classes that are not able to be carried out online. These students are lacking the instruction and materials to effectively develop skills necessary to complete their degrees.
GPA is extremely important in finding employment, gaining internships, and applying to graduate schools. By moving classes online, FSU is denying students abilities to compete in some of these cases. Making classes credit/no credit will allow students to finish the semester without affecting their GPA during these hard times. This will provide equality for all students and allow students to maintain some sense of normalcy in their college careers.
Please consider something like this, Administration of Ferris State University. We are looking for your guidance in these hard times.
Sincerely,
A concerned Ferris State University Student
