On the day of September Sixteenth 2022, as passing by the Beard parking garage, the body of a potential USF student rested in the middle of the road by the entrance of the garage, clearly visible to students and onlookers, traumatizing those who passed by. Suicide is a very serious matter that needs to be addressed in the correct ways and proper resources need to be provided for those on USF campus who need support. With all this said, the potential solution for this particular instance is putting up fencing in the parking garages around USF, to prevent death by impact as an effect of jumping from the higher levels. This tragedy has happened more than once at USF from parking garages and this being the second time in the Beard garage should strike USF to take action immediately as it should've been done in the first place. $220,000 is the estimated total to cover all of the parking garages with fencing around the levels to prevent suicide attempts from jumping off the garage. If USF can pay millions towards a new football stadium, it's time to take action in stride towards the lives of the very students here.
