The Edition, Colindale is a private estate yet has become a thoroughfare between Colindale Avenue and Colindeep Lane  due to Barnet councils open plan design. In addition, the estate is connected to high traffic shops such as Taco Bell and the vape shop on Colindale Avenue that attract unwanted visitors.

Problem

Both factors have contributed to heightened traffic through the estate from non-residents that has resulted in rising number of anti-social behaviour, violent and drug related crimes on the private estate over the past 3 years.

The burden to invest in expensive security measures such as CCTV has simply been forced upon Edition residents due to poor city planning.

Expected Result

Installing proper fencing and gating with controlled access to the park will make the estate less crime friendly due to:

1) reduced number of exits criminals can use to escape law enforcement

2) force access through pathways covered by CCTV

Gating, in conjunction with better signage’s will also help change the perception of the Edition into a private estate (which it is), thus reducing unwanted foot traffic through the estate.
