The Issue

Riley Strain, the name now known worldwide because on March 8th, 2024, he was enjoying time with Frat brothers on Nashville’s most famous Broadway Strip before he went missing. then his body was found in the Cumberland River an agonizing 14 days later.  This strip has been traveled too by so many to fulfill their dreams but unfortunately Riley’s night out would become a nightmare.  I understand how there is a lot of conspiracy around Riley’s death but that is not what this is about.  This is about CHANGE and making Broadway a SAFER place, so dreams of laughter do not turn into screams of nightmares LIKE Riley’s did.
Some of you may know me, Brandy Baenen (and my friend Anna) from spending days searching for Riley or anything to resemble we were on his steps.  On Sunday March 17th we had found his Debit card after climbing down the embankment and maneuvering along the river until we reached under the Jefferson Street bridge where we dug through so much trash and luckily found his debit card.  This allowed the News to pick back up on Riley’s Story and bring light to his story. Providing a spotlight for  his parents to tryw me communicate about what they were going through.
During my time searching I not only bruised and cut myself.  I witnessed Anna slip down and fall all the way, cutting and bruising herself.  Anna was also canoeing alone the river, and she came across a homeless man who had ALSO fallen down the embankment receiving two broken arms amongst smaller injuries (he would never have been found without the luck of Anna being along the river).
Most recently there was a 33-year-old, New Jersey woman, who was out on Broadway with a friend when in the early morning hours, she became separated and lost.  Luckily, she was found several hours later climbing UP from the embankment with SEVERAL lacerations and no memory of what happened.
I do not think we need any more examples why NASHVILLE needs to make the putting up the fencing along this commonly taken path of Broadway goers.  We need this to be done ASAP so this is one less thing in this crazy world we don’t have to worry about when anticipating a fun night out.
                PLEASE SIGN THIS, PLEASE.
Brandy Baenen (special thank you to Rileylivley, Chronicles of Olivia, and crime scene collective)
