The Issue
Femicide Is On The Rise... We Must Make It Stop!!!
Femicide has been occurring for centuries, but this is the first time, outside of the Female Genocide of slavery and the Witch Trials of the 17th century, that I have ever “heard” it coined as such. Must women engaged in a Civil War of their own (since the female revolutions of the '30s, '40s, '60s, '70s, '80s and 2010s did not seem to take) for men to recognize that we will no longer tolerate such behavior? The time is NOW to say: No more victimization and marginalization of females!
It is bad enough that we are underpaid and overworked. It is bad enough that 1 in 3 females (in their lifetime) will experience a form of sexual and/or physical assault. It is bad enough that we receive sub-par health care and failed early detection and preventative care. Now, females are faced with the likelihood that their death will be the result of homicide due to domestic violence as well?!
Every TWO AND A HALF DAYS A WOMAN IS MURDERED, MOST LIKELY BY A MALE PERPETRATOR. It is bad enough that some females are targeted by other females, the whole world is coming after them, especially women of color or distinguishable ethnicity. This is infuriating and heartbreaking, mostly since it is avoidable if society would stop glorifying and/or ignoring it all together. If legislators would deem it necessary to exact effective and aggressive change, deeming violence against the female population as much attention as they do monetary fraud and other expenditures of taxpayers' money to effect legislation, most likely there would be a marked change in the overall mistreatment of the female populace. Sex trafficking is still a thing. Some cops, politicians and lawyers that claim prostitution is illegal still partake in garnering prostitution services sans being charged and penalized themselves. Whilst the prostitute is fined and jailed most harshly, not to mention stigmatized and often brutalized.
One would think legislators would want to try to keep their main "cash cows" (women) alive to spend their unjustly meager salaries to sustain commercial global spending. After all, of all the people that spend the most, women are the true force behind a booming economy. Women spend more, and are more generous in sharing, as well as more inclined to pay their taxes rather than finagle their way out footing the bill for any and everything. Plus, they put forth their best in whatever they do and are less focused on being paid to put forth the bare minimum of effort for maximum pay (as some males are prone to do).
The caretakers and driving force behind perpetuation of the next generation is being slaughtered seemingly sans a care. This needs to END NOW!
