Healthier Lifestyle for Students During Covid-19

Healthier Lifestyle for Students During Covid-19
The Issue
During coronavirus, our lives have faced a lot of change. Store owners, doctors, world travelers, etc. This is a long list that I can go on and on about, but I’m choosing to emphasize the change on students lives. With a wave of covid-19 hitting my community my school district has shut down and gone completely online instead of our hybrid schedule. My school district has decided to do zooms all day, every week day. This may not seem like a lot considering we used to go to school five days a week last year, right? Wrong. Having zooms all day every week day is a painful process for students and teachers, and is not creating the normality that is intended. Sitting in our houses all day staring at a screen trying to retain information just to sit at the screen for a few more hours to finish homework is not normal for students. It’s also not normal for teachers to be doing the same and then go on to hours of grading. I know teachers like to see our faces, so I’m proposing this while we are currently all online. One mandatory asynchronous day of learning and two non-mandatory zoom help days. This gives teachers the opportunity to see their students faces, and students the opportunity to get learning done on their own terms and their own time. It also gives everyone a chance for better mental health, which is valued highly in our community.
