There are credible reports that Derek Horne is purposely sabotaging the Alcorn State University Football team. He has created an environment that limits the 2-time SWAC coach of the year Fred McNair's ability to successfully complete the duties of his job.

There was an unconfirmed report of the Braves opting out of the Spring Football that spread outside of the Alcorn State Media department and went viral in the Black College Football community. Fans and Alumni of Alcorn State University have not been giving an update on the state of Alcorn’s football program. Due to AD Horne's ineptness and his inability to hire a Sports Information Director, these rumors have run rampant without clarification from the university. AD Horne has also failed to give the SWAC Commissioner any real/time facts concerning these reports, leading to speculation and uncertainty at the conference level. It has also been reported that AD Horne is attempting to intentionally undermined and hinder the Progress of the Alcorn Football program and Head Coach Fred McNair due to personal reasons.

The hiring a trainer 2 weeks before the season starts for a team that had not practice at all since it was announced in the summer of 2020 we will be playing in the spring.

Alcorn State University has a rich and proud football Tradition and we must not let it be undermined and dismantled due to willful ignorance, incompetence, or by sabotage. We are demanding that the President Felecia M. Nave to intervene and do whatever it takes to bring stability back to the Athletics Department by removing Derek Horne and replacing him with someone who has the best interest of the university
