Noom’s False Advertising is Causing Harm

The Issue

Noom is a company that has begun to market themselves as a non-diet approach to health. This is false advertising as they are committed to restricting calories, telling you which foods are acceptable or not through a traffic light labeling system, and daily weigh-ins for the sole purpose of losing weight. They make no secret that the goal of their program is for their clients to lose weight through these means. This would make them a weight loss diet plan.

If they marketed themselves as a weight loss plan, this petition wouldn’t be necessary. However, as their ads target key words like anti-diet and use language like “Stop going on a diet. Start going on Noom” they are clearly marketing themselves under false advertising. This is causing great harm to the general public as individuals with disordered eating or eating disorders are especially targeted in these groups. This furthers the harm to their health and may trigger relapses to any healing process they have undergone.

Marketing yourself as a nondiet approach when your purpose is clearly weight loss is false advertising at its core. The general public should have correct information in order to make informed decisions regarding what they need for their own well-being. Please sign this petition to stop further harm at Noom’s hands with their false advertising.
