Create A Responsive Mobile App To Fight Child Abuse In Nigeria #childrightapp
The Issue
6 months ago I needed to employ the services of a nanny and a neighbor offered me a 7-year-old child. This little girl in all her innocence cried profusely. She kept saying "mummy". It was heartbreaking to watch.
Although, I personally ensured this child was taken back to her mother after cautioning and educating this neighbor on child abuse. This is one of many other cases of child abuse happening daily in Nigeria which most often goes unnoticed. Every day, children are abused sexually, emotionally, physically at home, at school, and in their wider community.
In 2013, the Nigerian government signed the child right Acts into effect. Unfortunately, the government is yet to find effective ways to enforce stricter regulations that will lead to absolute resolutions to child abuse.
Therefore, I am soliciting with the Federal Ministry of Women affairs and Social Development to create a responsive Mobile app #childrightapp. This App will:
- Enhance quick, easy, and accurate means of reporting Child Abuse Cases
- Connect all necessary bodies and NGOs that fight for the rights of children.
- Facilitate comprehensive database for collections, collation, and analysis of Child Abuse cases in Nigeria
- Enable every victim to get justice
- Instill fear in Abusers and therefore tremendously reduce abuse meted on children.
Imagine an App that makes it possible for a John in Calabar to get justice with just a click or Jane in Borno state who swiftly get saved because as soon as she reports, all necessary government bodies/NGO within Borno state get notified. This will place Nigeria amongst countries with effective child protection services.
