Ban Live Exports in Australia

Ban Live Exports in Australia
The Issue
Live exportation is the commercial transport of livestock across national borders. Every year Australia exports millions of live animals to countries in the middle east, forcing them to endure a gruelling trip across the Indian ocean. These animals are crammed into filthy cargo ships, often in searing heat and either die of starvation, dehydration, disease or are even trampled to death. The suffering these animals endure sadly does not end when they reach their destination. Investigators have witnessed animals being dragged roughly from ships, being cut with knives and thrown into trucks - all while the poor things are still conscious. To make matters worse there are virtually no laws in the middle east to protect these animals, and they are often subjects of abuse, brutality and straight up slaughter. If that isn’t enough for you, live exportation is also costly on the environment and it is also classified as Australia’s highest emitters of carbon dioxide. Why should these animals be the subject of our unjust decisions? Don't let Australia's children grow up with this reality. If I can see the issue, why can't you?
