We, the American people, request federal legislation for purposes of medical records retention. Present medical records retention legislation is left to the states, and generally do not appear to be rational, fair, and just. A rational, fair, and just amount of time for medical records retention involving a minimum of 30 years and/or 15 years after death is more appropriate to reduce risks of injuries and deaths, as well as protect and preserve historical records pertaining to individual pursuits of liberty and business. I, James T. Van Engen, plan to reach a goal of 100,000,000 supporters for this petition to be enacted by January 1, 2030 C.E..
