Nov 3, 2015 — Update: 18 Feb 2016. Rob had success with Keytruda until Nov 2015. He had a break and unfortunately his cancer raced ahead. He passed away earlier this week. His heart just gave up as the disease had infiltrated the heart. Yet another wasted life due to that “ bloody awful “ disease. Rob should be here today enjoying his retirement with his beautiful soulmate, however his life has been cut short thanks to asbestos greed. (This update is written by Rob's wife). Rob’s tumours have shrunk by 52% and one by 21% after the first 3 infusions of Keytruda. Rob's oncologist has been informed about his contact with myself (Lou). She is wonderful and the fact that Rob can have no more chemo or radiation (his last chemo resulted in him having a cardiac arrest), as the mass is so huge yet the Keytruda had such amazing results is so important to her. Rob was an electrician in the 1960’s. This is when he was in direct contact with asbestos. He was diagnosed with Mesothelioma on March 3rd 2014 and had chemo then radiation. After a while he had a severe reaction to the chemo. Never mind he had more. Then he had a cardiac arrest with chemo so can have no more. He then had radiation. At first it was successful then the mass became so large that he could have no more. Despair. Then his oncologist rang us about Keytruda. This he had 6 lots of. 3 paid for, 3 free. He had immediate positive results. From almost dead he went to less coughing, more energy and happier. It is dreadfully expensive but it is his only chance of life so we have no option. It is so unfair for the Government to pay for melanoma treatment but not for mesothelioma, especially as you folk contracted it merely by going to work. As Keytruda is very expensive for all of us, it needs to urgently be put on the PBS for all to have access to. (Rob has had 6 infusions (every 3 weeks) of Keytruda and has now halted his treatment as he is doing so well. He will have a scan this week.
