Update from Krissandy 20 Jan 2016. It's still difficult for me to let my mother go. I had taken care of her since she was diagnosed with Mesothelioma October 2013. At the time we were so upset when the doctor said it could not be healed and survival maybe 2 years or less. The Doctor also said chemotherapy the best treatment that they could do at that time. I saw my beautiful mom in a state of fear for the judgement, but she tried to believe that there was a miracle to be healed. When she was in chemotherapy, she was always disciplined in setting her healthy meal and took medicine on time as the doctor directed. She also took herbal/ vitamins to make her body fit and hopefully decrease her cancer. Unfortunately she was really disappointed when all these things were useless and I could see this through her face. I still remember how disappointed she was when the doctor and myself could do nothing further when her mesothelioma became worse. I can still see her eyes in fear though she tried to be courageous. In October 2015, it was 2 years for my mom with mesothelioma and finally I received information about keytruda after the doctor gave signs her health was getting worse. I tried to find out about this medicine until I got the reality that it was impossible to obtain this in our country as the price was beyond our capability. It really hurt my heart when I knew it. I tried to give hope to my mom, but it was only a dream. Her end of life December 25th, 2015 till January 9th, 2016. I watched her in pain day by day, suffering in severe breathless agony, pain in her back, her brain confused when she spoke something that no one could understand day by day, until she said something that I believe came from deep inside her heart and really brought overwhelming tears to my eyes: "I want to go home". She said several times. I knew she was too tired with all this suffering. Mom closed her eyes finally on January 9th, 2016 at 6.57 pm. I realized I had to let her go as she was suffering in so much agony. I wish if the world could be a better place for all people, If Governments provide better treatments. Honestly, it's still difficult for me when I have to write this because I have to flash back in the sad and hurt situation. But I realize that there are other people who are fighting for their cancer, who are still in hope for healing and I can feel how bad their situation is and I wish I could help them through this petition because they deserve for any medicine that can heal them. I hope these words can help them. (The update is Kriss's own words. RIP to her beautiful and brave Mom.) Kriss contacted me recently. Her mother was diagnosed 2 years ago with mesothelioma cancer. She has had many rounds of chemotherapy and unfortunately her tumours continue to be active with no shrinkage. As Keytruda is not approved for Mesothelioma use in Indonesia her mum cannot access it. If she does then it will be very expensive and out of her reach for payment every three weeks as it is in Australia for patients desperate to give Keytruda a go when all other treatments have failed causing untold pain and suffering. Patients living with mesothelioma and other rare less known cancers cannot afford to wait years for Keytruda to come on to our PBS (pharmaceutical benefits list) WE SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO WAIT! Mesothelioma does not wait for anyone! It is aggressive, painful and brutal. We need to access this drug NOW as a matter of life and death!
