Mental illness and mental health stress is the leading cause of mass shootings and other gun violence in our communities. There seems to be no political will or momentum for additional gun control laws that may or may not have prevented these mass shootings. Consequently, we should at least focus our efforts on expanding mental health care, access, and awareness. The revenue from a national tax from the sale of guns and ammunition could go into grants to support mental health services, programs to reduce gun violence and support the families and friends effected by gun violence.
