This week, our community group Care4esK applied for the State Government's Community Sustainability Action 'Queensland Threatened Species Recovery' round of funding.

If successful, we will collaborate with highly qualified, ethical Botanists and Ecologists, under the careful guidance of our Traditional Custodians, to investigate the Council and State-owned blocks that form the Mount Glen Rock land parcel.

The findings will be compiled into a Biodiversity Assessment Report, to be presented to the relevant Local and State Government departments.

During the project, Care4esK will be offering Citizen Science opportunities, comprising of Education and Information presentations, and where practical, assistance in the field.

These opportunities will allow Community members to gain knowledge and connectedness, to our local Threatened species.

Care4esK would like to thank the Somerset Regional Council for granting conditional access to the Mount Glen Rock land parcels, along with Friends of the Forest Inc, our State member Deb Frecklington, our Federal member Shayne Neumann and the Jagera and Jinibara People, for acknowledging the importance of this proposed project, and for giving Care4esK the support to make the application for this funding.

As with all Grants, the outcome is always unpredictable.
However, we believe we have compiled a great application, with a professionally led research proposal, that will ultimately offer the advice needed to ensure the future of the Threatened species located on Mount Glen Rock.

Saving Endangered and Threatened species requires a team effort, with dedicated and passionate individuals, many of whom are volunteers, working together for the best outcome possible.

For such vital recovery actions to get off the ground, adequate funding is essential.

A key component for any worthy cause is greater awareness and education for all our local and global communities.
