This little fellow is the Red-backed Fairy Wren.

He is spotted regularly in the grasslands, where the $1,459,152.20  Francis Terrace Day Use Area is proposed for Councils current Mount Glen Rock Adventure Park Development Draft Plan.

Both the Blue and Red Fairy wrens are regularly seen and heard chattering in this area, along with many other smaller birds, including Grey Fantails, Double-barred Finches and Thornbills. The call of the Whip bird often cracks in the morning silence and depending upon the season, the delightful call of Pardalotes, Rufous Whistlers and the beautiful trill of the Fantail Cuckoo are heard well before their presence is revealed. Walking up to the grassland area on these still and misty Autumn mornings, is such a lovely peaceful way to embrace the day.

We would like to say a big 'Congratulations' to Care4esK friend and supporter, Dr Mark Nadir Runkovski, and his team. Their short film, 'Northern Hairy-Nosed Wombat', from the Back from the Brink series, has been featured by Australian Geographic.

Koalas are most closely related to Wombats, with having shared a common ancestor in the Oligocene, or earlier time period.

Have a look at the short film here...

May 8th is Mother's Day here in Australia.

However you may choose to acknowledge or celebrate this day, might we take a moment to reflect on Mother Earth herself, and all that she provides for millions of inhabitants, including each one of us. With quiet reverence, might we give thanks...

Thank you to each and everyone of you who have signed this petition, and for all your efforts in sharing your concerns with the Somerset Regional Council. Whilst the Have Your Say survey is now officially closed, letters are still accepted. You can send them to...
