Make it illegal for carriers to lock bootloaders

Make it illegal for carriers to lock bootloaders

The Issue

As an open-source developer, I think it should be a right for people to do what they want with hardware they bought from a carrier. Companies like Verizon want to take your rights away! As the carriers have not responded to past petitions to unlock bootloaders and give people the power to do what they please with the hardware they own, I appeal to the Federal Communications Commission to make a ruling preventing carriers from locking bootloaders in the future, as well as releasing decryption keys/unencrypted versions of the bootloaders they have locked. Please, support your fellow developers! Fight for your right to use your hardware the way you see fit!
