Tell the FCC and Congress to Stop Robocalls to Cell Phones from Student Loan and Mortgage Servicers, and Other Big Businesses!
Just this past year, more than 4 million consumers complained to government agencies about nuisance and intrusive robocalls to their cell phones, many coming from student loan debt collectors, mortgage servicers, banks, and other corporations.
These calls often target lower-income students, graduates, and homeowners, some of whom receive hundreds of these calls a month, robbing them of their ability to enjoy a peaceful night out with their families or of valuable prepaid cell phone minutes.
Fortunately, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) helps keep robocalls at bay by awarding damages to recipients of these unconsented-to calls should the victim bring their case to suit. But because the law is working to limit these calls, it’s under attack. Student loan servicers and mortgage servicers have joined forces with banks, financial service providers, and even the Chamber of Commerce to change the rules and open the floodgates to nuisance debt collection calls.
To protect all consumers and rid their days and evenings of frequent interruptions, we must pressure the FCC and Congress to maintain these rules against robocalls to cell phones.
