Federal Bureau of Prisons: Returned to the prison's general population.

Gaffney, SC, United States
Created July 5, 2011

The Issue

Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness... justice for all. . The government often confuses the saying with the doing, however... like in the case of Leonard Peltier. On June 27, Leonard Peltier was removed from the general population at USP-Lewisburg and placed in solitary confinement. We know this was not done for Leonard's protection. We also are certain that Leonard has done nothing wrong. He should immediately be returned to the prison's general population. Our concern is two-fold. First and foremost, Leonard must not be railroaded by prison authorities as has happened in the past. Second, Leonard's age and health status are a concern. Leonard suffers from diabetes and other health conditions. He must have the means by which to monitor his blood sugar. He must receive the proper diet. Leonard otherwise must continue to receive his prescribed medications. He must immediately be returned to the prison's general population.
