FDOT To Make 192 and Town Center Blvd Safe for Pedestrians

FDOT To Make 192 and Town Center Blvd Safe for Pedestrians
The Issue
Hello and GOD Bless You. On August 28, 2023, Just 20 days after My Son Turned 18 years old, He was crossing 192 at Town Center Blvd, when he was struck by a car and killed. You cannot believe the heartache that comes along with losing your child especially so unexpectedly. Joshua was just starting his life. He just graduated from High School same year, and just started college. Joshua had the best heart and there is nothing he wouldn't do for anyone. I know my son is in Heaven because He knew Jesus as His Savior, so I thank GOD, but as a mother you cannot imagine the pain that doesn't leave, obviously, you just manage to go one day at a time one step sometimes. My son's police report indicated he didn't cross at a crosswalk at 192 and Town Center Blvd in Davenport Fl. There are NO Crosswalks in this area and therefore he that was no an option for him. Also there are no pedestrian signals, and for those that know the area, you know how VERY Dark it is. It is EXTREMELY dangerous and come to find out upon further investigation from multiple sources, my son is NOT the first pedestrian fatality, which totally breaks my heart. I have contacted several people from FDOT and yes they send their condolences and say that they will begin bidding out for safety measures, crosswalks, sidewalks etc in 2025 but when asked why they didn't put safety measures in the first place if you were going to make it a residential area with shopping plazas across from each other I do not receive any responses. So I am petioning that FDOT do what is right and move this process along to implement safety measures for pedestrians in this area. Also I request that they put up a permanent either street name, or sign in Honor of My Beautiful Son Joshua Raffield, as he was and is a beautiful soul who had dreams, plans, goals, and accomplish mor ein his 18 years physically, academically, and Spiritually then most every do in a lifetime. To know Josh was to be Blessed and have a Best loyal friend for life. Please join me so others do not have such a heartache to have for the rest of their life. John 3:16 is the gift I leave for you all who sign as this was my son's favorite Bible Scripture. GOD Bless You and Thank You and Behalf of our Family and others to come. In Jesus Name, Amen.
