Hate crime victim Marcellus Andrews, 19, of Waterloo, Iowa was kicked and beaten to death around 12:45 a.m. on August 19, 2011 as his attackers hurled anti-gay slurs. He died after being taken off life support Sunday afternoon.

Two witnesses to the hate crime reported hearing yelling at the location while walking down the street from the scene of the crime. They ran back and found a truck stopped in the street, and the occupants were taunting Marcellus, calling him "faggot" and "Mercedes," a feminization of his first name.

After the attack, Marcellus was left on the floor with severe head injuries after being kicked in the head until one witness called 911.

The local police department is refusing to investigate the crime, therefore urgent action needs to be taken by the FBI to bring justice to Marcellus Andrews and his family.
