According to a federal complaint filed this week by the nonprofit Advancing Law for Animals, puppies bred on Skid Row are being funneled into an underground trafficking pipeline — sent to illegal dog fighting rings in Las Vegas, sold to feed demand for purebred dogs, or used as currency in drug deals. Dogs are being drugged with fentanyl, mutilated, and bred illegally on city sidewalks while local authorities look the other way.

The complaint, sent directly to FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Todd Blanche, cites multiple potential violations of federal animal cruelty and animal welfare statutes. It demands an immediate federal investigation.

Local advocates have been sounding the alarm for years. Investigative reporters have captured the abuse on camera. LA's city officials have repeatedly failed to act. If local government won't stop an organized criminal pipeline that is torturing animals and fueling illegal fighting rings, the federal government must.
