FB Group "Urgent Dogs and Cats of OKC"
The Issue
Dear Governor Kevin Stitt, Mayor David Holt and All Residents of Oklahoma:
It is time to take action and make a change for the animals in our community. Every year, thousands of dogs and cats are abandoned or surrendered to shelters in Oklahoma City. Unfortunately, not all of them find their forever homes.
According to the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Division, in 2020 alone, over 10,000 dogs and cats were taken into their care. Out of those animals, only around 4,000 were adopted or returned to their owners. That means over half of the animals brought into the shelter did not find a home.
One way we can do this is by promoting adoption through social media platforms like Facebook.
As members of Urgent Dogs and Cats of OKC, we have an opportunity to make a difference in these animals' lives by sharing their stories on our page and encouraging others to Adopt, Foster, Foster to Adopt and the ability make it visible to local Rescues that work directly with the Oklahoma Animal Shelter.
By working together as a community to increase adoption rates for dogs and cats in Oklahoma City. By doing so, we can save countless lives and give these animals the second chance they deserve.
Being members of the Group we were notified that the Oklahoma Animal Shelter will no longer be working with our Group which is devastating to everyone trying to save lives of animals of Oklahoma City.
We ask that this decision be rescinded so that we may continue to do the work that needs to be done.
Thank you for your consideration,
Concerned Oklahoma Residents
