Title: History and Nature Inspire Artists - Part 2
*** Madison Moon ***
Madison Moon is a California born visual artist who started drawing at the age of four. Since then, Madi has greatly improved their skills through practice and trying out new techniques. Through their art, Madi loves to use vibrant colors and ideas to bring joy to other people as well as themselves.
"My inspiration for the Markham Hill piece 'The Last Two' (16" x 20") came from the deforestation happening currently on Markham Hill. Through my painting I wanted to express the trees having strength, love, and hope until the very end. I love nature because it heals us and it's helped heal me."
"My inspiration for 'As Tall As a Tree' (24" x 36") was actually my long legs. I've always been told I'm tall like a tree, and I love nature; so it made sense to do this painting."

*** Karolyn Farrell ***
Karolyn Farrell has drawn and painted since an early age. She started winning state art awards at age 9. Karolyn completed degrees in art, science and education. She retired as an educational administrator but had kept her passion for art throughout her career. She hopes to share with others the beautiful light, hue, and values of our environment. Clients have sometimes burst into tears when receiving their commission of objects, structures and landscapes of times past. Karolyn hopes the natural environment is preserved because it brings joy and peace to people of all ages. She enjoys her moments of painting outdoors in nature, en plein air. Karolyn continues to teach art and is represented by Art Ventures Gallery in Arkansas and DB Gallery in Missouri.
"The Markham Hill painting was done when I was painting up there with Plein Air Painters of the Ozarks (PAPO), our outdoor painting group. All are welcome. We paint together every Wednesday morning until noon from May through September at different locations in Northwest Arkansas. 'Pratt Place' (oil, 9" x 12") is the title of this piece."
"The second painting is the winner of the Illinois Watershed show 'Heart of America'. It is called 'Misty morning at Flint Creek, Illinois River' (oil, 9” x 12”)."
