Faster updated 911 logs for Montgomery County and reversal of radio encryption

Faster updated 911 logs for Montgomery County and reversal of radio encryption
The Issue
In 2014, Clarksville decided to fully encrypt all city fire and police radios, leaving the citizens of Clarksville in the dark from knowing what is occurring around them. The county created a 911 log, but it’s delayed 2 hours which defeats the purpose of being up to date about community incidents. In May of 2021, the county decided to encrypt all EMS and sheriff radios as well, pushing the public further into the dark. They do not like the fact that people can easily access and listen to their conversations over public safety radios.
The public deserves to know what is going on in the city and county, live time. This is not only for the safety of the citizens who live in the area, but to stop the spread of misinformation and rumors. I’m asking to have the 911 log be up to date with live time incidents. Especially if there is a dangerous situation. Similar to what Nashville has utilized and implemented for their city. They do have a five minute refresh time, which is still much more faster than Clarksville-Montgomery County. Unit numbers or names are not necessary for this as long as incidents are much more recent than what they currently are on the 911 log and the public can have a general idea of what happened. If they can reverse county and city encryption too, that would be even better!
Yes, the county incident map is live time but it’s mostly only fires, medical calls, crashes, traffic problems, weather related problems, and traffic signals/down power lines on the map. There’s a lack of other incidents that shuts down roads such as shootings or stand-offs. Press releases are also slow or delayed.
Please, don’t keep the citizens of this city and county in the dark any longer. Transparency is important for a healthy relationship between the local departments and the general public. Not only that, but citizens would feel much safer knowing why there are five police cars down the street at the neighbor’s house or why there is crime scene tape cordoning off a parking lot at our favorite restaurant or store.
Worst of all, the agencies in the county do not allow media access whatsoever. This is a complete violation of our right to the freedom of press. No media agencies should be left in the dark in this country.
