The students of the Fargo Public Schools system believe that this incident could have been avoided. School officials are simply not taking preventative measures to keep students safe. After the student was sent to the hospital, school officials decided to use subsitute teachers as lifeguards. This is not enough. At Fargo North High, outrageous requirements are in place. No student is allowed to opt out of the swimming unit without a doctor's note that clearly states that he or she has a chlorine allergy. Parents can not even send a note to keep their kids out of the pool. Even those students who can not swim are forced to swim.

Please remove these requirements. The least that FPS can do is to offer an alternate activity while a gym class has their swimming unit. In order to respect Frederic's family, and to keep future classes safe, we ask that Fargo Public Schools take action immediately.
