FANSHAWE: No More Fees for Required Course Simulations and Resources!

FANSHAWE: No More Fees for Required Course Simulations and Resources!
The Issue
End the Unfair Financial Burden on International Students: No More Fees for Required Course Simulations and Resources!
International students at Fanshawe College are directly impacted by the additional fees for required course simulations, resources, and applications. As international students, we are already paying over $16,000 in tuition fees for our education. However, we are being asked to pay extra for essential resources that are mandatory for completing coursework and receiving grades. These additional costs—such as $100 spent on simulations and apps—create unnecessary financial strain, particularly when our academic success is tied to being able to afford these extra materials.
If the current situation continues, international students will continue to bear the burden of unaffordable course materials. This not only creates financial hardship but also puts students at a disadvantage, as those who cannot afford the extra fees may be unable to access the tools required to succeed. This unfair system means students are being graded based on their ability to pay for required resources rather than on their actual academic performance.
Now is the time to take action because this issue has already been affecting students since the beginning of the January marketing programme, where many of us have been required to spend extra money on necessary simulations. It is clear that international students are being unfairly burdened. We must demand that Fanshawe College step in and provide these required materials as part of our tuition, ensuring all students, regardless of their financial situation, have access to the resources they need to succeed.
