The announcement by the Detroit Tigers and Fifth Third Bancorp to transition Comerica Park into what will become Fifth Third Park is a blow to fans. It pains me to think that the legacy of this beautiful park will be relegated to just another corporate name.

Tiger Stadium holds a special place in our hearts. It is not just a name – it represents our community, our team and generations of baseball enthusiasm. We deserve a name that reflects this history and keeps the spirit of Detroit alive, rather than aligning it with a corporate identity that holds no sentimental value for us.

Renaming Comerica Park to Tiger Stadium would not only preserve the legacy of our Tigers but also strengthen the cultural identity of Detroit. This is a chance for the organization to stand in solidarity with the fans and honor the past while looking forward to many more seasons of success and community celebration.
