The Issue

We, the citizens of Fannin County, petition the county commissioners or the permitting authority to stop the widening/altering of all county roads and specifically County Road 1010 and County Road 1020 for the purpose of sand/gravel trucks and other large equipment associated with sand mining.

County roads were established primarily for standard passenger cars and trucks, not for large commercial vehicles like those used in the mining of sand/gravel. By widening the county roads it allows the sand mining companies to increase their speed, the quantity of trucks using the road, and the size of the equipment creating excessive air and noise pollution, road hazards (such as falling rocks/sand from the trucks/equipment) and traffic safety issues for others who drive these roads

We request that the Fannin County Commissioners or the permitting authority deny the permits to widen any county road, specifically CR 1010 and CR 1020, for the purpose of sand/gravel mining and transportation.
