Thank you for signing The Family Doctors' Pledge.  I have 3 additional Anonymous Pledges submitted to me by email.  This is only the beginning.  Please continue to promote and circulate this Pledge amongst our colleagues. I will continue post and educate our colleagues on the details of this Pledge. 

Some would suggest the demands of this pledge are extreme.   Healthcare is not cheap.  Our patients need and want more than what we are able to currently offer.  The cost of doing business keeps up with market rates and we often pay a premium for being physicians. The Ministry of Health and OHIP refuses to acknowledge that Family Doctors operate businesses by perpetually keeping OHIP fee increases below inflation.  Family Doctors in Ontario have no cost recovery mechanism and are not allowed to charge patients for any OHIP-insured services.  Below-inflation incremental increases to compensation will solidify the status quo of spiralling the drain.  

Significant reforms and investments are necessary. The signatories of this petition will be a strong catalyst for change. It's a matter of survival for our clinics, the patients that use them, and the specialty of Family Medicine.
