It is our understanding that Gladman Developments (Scottish Branch - 2 Eliburn Office Park, Eliburn, Livingston, West Lothian, EH54 6GR) on 31st March 2017, under the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997(section 35b), The Town and Country Planning (Develpment Management Procedure) (Scotland), Regulations 2008 4 & 7, have asked permission to the Falkirk Council to build 114 dwellinghouses in the South of Standrigg Road, Wallacestone, Falkirk.
The signers of this petition are asking to the recipients of this petition to consider the following:

  1. A development of more than 100 houses involves hundreds of new children attending Wallacestone Primary School and Nursery, that, as section 4.52 says, “is already at capacity and no further expansion is planned”.
  2. Standrigg Road, where it is planned to make the access to the new housing area, is already a difficult road to negotiate. Traditional cottages without off road parking result in on-road parking reducing the road to single track.

  3. The new nursery and cake decorating businesses alongside the existing cricket club have already considerably increased the traffic in this road. The T-junction at the end of the road has become a very dangerous and over trafficked intersection. If further houses are built, a roundabout will be necessary, resulting in an increase of the money the community needs to keep the roads safe and more expenses for the council.
  4. The land is at the moment used to pasture livestock, keeping the area pleasant, ecological and, of course, economically active. A new development will increase pollution, decrease green area and quality of air.

We are firmly asking that the above mentioned development is stopped and that the authorities will take what the citizens ask them very seriously indeed.

Yours Faithfully,
Gabriele Panozzo, on behalf of

Community Against Standrigg Development.
