Fairness Petition For Balanced Dog Rules In Vallecito Mobile Home Park

The Issue

Subject: Let’s Create a Dog-Friendly, Clean, and Respectful Community

Dear Jess,

We, the undersigned residents of Vallecito, believe that a community that allows dogs should have fair, balanced rules — not ones shaped by those who dislike dogs. We are asking for policies that support responsible dog ownership while keeping the community clean and enjoyable for everyone.⸻

What We’re Asking For:

    1.    Access to Green Spaces

      •   Allow dog owners to responsibly use front lawns and common grassy areas, with dogs leashed and waste picked up.

    2.    Waste Disposal Stations

      •   Install dog waste stations throughout the community with trash bins and free poop bags for easy cleanup.

    3.    Fines for Irresponsible Owners

      •   Enforce reasonable fines for owners who fail to clean up after their dogs to keep the community clean for all.

    4. Security camera in dog run.

Elderly residents and staff should not have to pick up after other residents pets.

Addressing the Bigger Issue: Respect and Realities

While most neighbors coexist peacefully, some residents have responded with aggression and hostility — even over minor infractions or honest mistakes. This creates unnecessary tension and makes our community less welcoming.

Additionally, our community’s lack of sidewalks or medians makes it more difficult to avoid stepping near private lawns while walking dogs. In many cases, the only option is to walk along the edges of residents’ grass. Dog owners aren’t being careless — they’re working with the layout they’ve been given.

We’re asking for compassion and understanding from all sides, alongside practical rules that reflect the realities of our community’s design. Let’s prioritize kindness and cooperation instead of confrontation.

Our goal is to create a balanced, respectful, and clean community — one that supports responsible dog owners without unfair restrictions. We believe these requests are reasonable, practical, and beneficial to all residents.

Thank you for considering this proposal and for your continued efforts to make Vallecito a wonderful place to live — for people and pets.
