It has become evidently clear that the only solution for police brutality is to completely defund the police. The function of these militarized police units in the NoVA community has only stoked fear, violence, and suffering.

Black blood is being shed at the hands of the police in the year 2020. These murderers often get a slap on the wrist, walk away free, or face very little punishment. 

George Floyd's life ended when Derek Chauvin and other police officers decided to take matters into their own hands. It took the department three days to arrest the blatantly obvious murders after the video had surfaced. 

Natasha McKenna was an African-American woman who died while in police custody in Fairfax County. Her death has been labeled as an "accident" after being tasered four times, but her death was a long shot from being an accident

What would defunding the police look like?

• Reallocate all the funds to social workers, mental health providers,and victim advocates
• Reinvest in black communities
• Utilize the 9-1-1 alternatives and helplines per county

We have cried out for change and reformation. Policing must be abolished before it can be transformed. Defund the police. Make our communities safer.
