The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has submitted the progress report on the journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case. The investigative officer of the case, ASP Mohiuddin of RAB, submitted the report to the chief metropolitan magistrate’s (CMM) court of Dhaka on Tuesday. The court fixed 2 May for submitting the final investigation report. Maasranga TV news editor Sagar Sarowar and his wife Meherun Runi, a senior reporter for ATN Bangla, were killed in their apartment at West Rajabazar in Dhaka on 11 February 2012. ASP Mohiuddin said he has submitted the information received so far through investigation in the Sagar-Runi murder case. The court rebuked the RAB for failing to submit the investigation report and extended submission period for 47 times. The families of the victims have been enraged and saddened at the delay. RAB officials said they received forensic report of the case evidence from the US, but two people are yet to be identified, whose DNA was found in the evidence. The laptop of the murdered couple couldn’t be recovered as yet either. Investigation about the suspected thieves and robbers also going on, said RAB officials. A total of six people, among eight arrested, have been sent to jail in the murder case.
