Fair pay for young people working in the Spar

Fair pay for young people working in the Spar
Why this petition matters

We are asking people to sign this petition to raise awareness about young people's pay rates and influence change.
Many young people working in Spar shops are doing the same work and unsocial hours for less pay than their older colleagues. Many of them have responsibility for Post Office transactions and are only being paid just under £7/ hour. They are also just as at risk of abuse from customers as their older colleagues. This is unfair and exploitative to those young people, who are also mostly on zero hours contracts and therefore without the employment security and benefits of a contracted job.
We would like the Spar brand and their franchisees to recognise the invaluable work that these young people do and pay them the same rate as their adult colleagues.
Some young people rely on their wages to support themselves to live independently so it seems very unfair that they are pushed into poverty, whilst still having the same workload and less job security than their older colleagues.
Please sign this petition to show your support for our future generation,in order for them to feel valued and appreciated within their workplace and society.
When the petition closes we will be forwarding the results to the Spar brand upper management and our MP.
Thanks for your time and please show your support by signing!
