Show Up and Tell Your Councilors : Its Time To End The Bin Strike

What's the dispute about? : Hundreds of Birmingham refuse workers have been on strike for over 12 months against pay cuts of up to £8,000 . In addition to concerns over health and safety and overstated equal pay liabilities . Rising levels of rat complaints have taken across the Midlands and student areas like Selly Oak produce a significant amount of waste that is difficult to manage . Despite a deal to end the strike being agreed to by both Unite and The Councils Managing Director back in July , Labor government are blocking the deal .

So What ?

The strike is currently being unnecessarily prolonged  . Show up @Selly Oak Grounded Cafe 10:45 am for the boards up Stunt to support the path to end the bin strike .  We as students have a vested interest with the bin workers. Not just for a cleaner Selly Oak but because Labors commitment to block the deal only seeks to impact the every day person more and more . This reflects the way that students have been deeply impacted by Labors attitudes to student debt and the cost of living .

Show up on Tuesday and Show your Support !
