Fair Go for North Arm Cove!

Fair Go for North Arm Cove!
The issue
It is the 150's anniversary of architect Walter Burley Griffin's birth.
It is the 108 anniversary since his project for Port Stephens City was approved as a innovative URBAN development on shores of the Port Stephens, NSW, Australia

After decades of neglect, intimidation and discrimination, against local landowners, it is time to include North Arm Cove (NAC) into a MidCoast Council's Delivery program and Operational Plans.
Community has until 4th of June to provide input on a draft plan.
We are in the midst of housing affordability crisis and Council is sitting on almost 800 of 4000 urban sized lots approved for URBAN development 108 years ago.
It is time to utilize this opportunity

Council has successfully ignored community's numerous and substantiated requests to include North Arm Cove as a significant potential for URBAN development in their Community Strategic Plan. State Government's Hunter Regional Plan 2041, Coastal District, planning PRIORITIES that Council needs to accommodate in its strategic documents have also been successfully ignored by the MidCoast Council:
PLANNING PRIORITY 6: - Consider historical paper subdivisions
Further investigation will identify whether options exist that could enable cost effective development.
Under the legislation, Council could lead this work.
PLANNING PRIORITY 1: - Prioritise housing growth in existing urban areas and support sustainable communities
As towns and villages grow, local strategic planning will look to expand and diversify the employment base and provide land for new business and industry. This will promote 15-minute neighbourhoods and reduces the need for residents to commute to major centres for work.
PLANNING PRIORITY 2: - Offer more diverse housing choices
Allowing smaller homes on smaller lots will support first home buyers, single households and people looking to downsize, making the Coastal district an affordable place to live.
In addition, given that NAC is bordering Greater Newcastle District, Regional plan requires:
Greater Newcastle will be Australia’s newest and emerging economic and lifestyle city. This will be achieved by: prioritising housing within 30 minutes of the Williamtown Special Activation Precinct - NAC is within 30min to the airport.
THESE ARE PRIORITIES, NOT SOMETHING TO LEAVE FOR 2030.
IT IS 2026 ALREADY AND COUNCIL HAS DONE NOTHING.
Instead Council has continued discrimination, intimidation and disregard for community's calls for collaboration in addressing housing and environmental issues in the area.
With 800 urban lots owned by Council in NAC, and changed zoning to ENVIRONMENTAL LIVING, it would be irresponsible not to proceed through our proposal to include preparation of a Development Plan for NAC into Council's Delivery Program and Operational Plans.
After all, this Development Plan is already part of Council's own LEP, and Council collects few million dollars every year from local ratepayers for this kind of activity - planning for the future.
All we are asking for is a FAIR GO FOR NORTH ARM COVE!!!
