We, the students of the University of North Georgia, are calling for the university to rescind its offer of admission to Irina Carter. Irina Carter has made several racially insensitive remarks on social media concerning the Black Lives Matter movement and the death of George Floyd. Additionally, she outright used racial slur on her social media. The apology she gave was inadequate and tone deaf, and was deleted. She had yet to take full responsibility for her actions. In light of these events, many students are concerned about having such a person on the same campus as them. Some worry for their safety around such a person, and do not want her in the same environment as them. Her remarks and ideas are directly against everything the University claims to stand for, and to allow her to attend in the Fall semester would be a travesty and an insensitive act towards the minority students the school claims to care about. By signing this petition, you stand against the remarks made by Irina Carter and want her admission rescinded. Don’t let her come to UNG!
