Tell Lil Nas X and MSCHF to Stop Promoting their Satan Shoes Containing Human Blood

We are asking Lil Nas X and MSCHF to stop the promotion of their Satan Shoes and remove all content from social media that includes mention of these modified Nike Air Max 97s.

The Satan Shoes were produced by MSCHF and sold to coincide with the release of "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)," Lil Nas X’s latest single and music video. The presale and video release, which features Lil Nas X giving the devil a lap dance, were released the evening before Passover began and leading up to Palm Sunday and Easter, dates that are among the most Holy and sacred holidays for Christianity and Judaism.

The Satan Shoes, which are modified Nike Air Max 97s, contain 60cc’s of ink and a drop of human blood in each sole. The shoes are individually numbered and a total of 666 pairs were produced. In addition to the unsanitary inclusion of human blood, the black and red shoes prominently feature a pentagram along with an inverted cross and the Bible Verse Luke 10:18.

Nike, who is no stranger to controversial shoe designs, was quick to put out a statement saying “Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them.” In that same statement, Nike said “We do not have a relationship with Little Nas X or MSCHF.” Nike has also filed a lawsuit against MSCHF stating the shoes were produced “without Nike’s approval and authorization.”

As people expressed their outrage in response to the shoes, Lil Nas X released a video titled “Lil Nas X Apologizes for Satan Shoe” which is not an apology but instead cuts to a scene from the "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" video in which Lil Nas X is giving Satan a lap dance and licking his face.

Despite growing objections, Lil Nas X has continued to promote the shoes, mock anyone who finds them offensive and take pleasure in the collective indignation of others. This is why we are asking all social media platforms to enforce their own rules and codes of conduct by removing all offensive material pertaining to the #SatanShoes.

To All Social Media Sites
Please enforce the immediate removal of this offensive material from your sites.

Facebook
We are requesting Facebook immediately ban and remove posts and links related to and promoting the Satan Shoes by Lil Nas X and MSCHF as they are in direct violation of Facebook Community Standards pertaining to objectionable content, fraud and deception (the original post stated the Satan Shoes were made by Nike).

Twitter
We are requesting Twitter immediately ban and remove posts and links related to and promoting the Satan Shoes by Lil Nas X and MSCHF as they are in direct violation of Twitter Rules pertaining to Safety (Sensitive media, including graphic violence and adult content) and Authenticity (the original post stated the Satan Shoes were made by Nike).

Instagram
We are requesting Instagram immediately ban and remove posts and links related to and promoting the Satan Shoes by Lil Nas X and MSCHF as they are in direct violation of Instagram Community Guidelines. The Satan Shoes by Lil Nas X and MSCHF and promotional materials are not appropriate for a diverse audience and do not foster respect for members of the Instagram community.

YouTube
We are requesting YouTube immediately ban and remove videos and links related to and promoting the Satan Shoes by Lil Nas X and MSCHF as they are in direct violation of YouTube Community Guidelines pertaining to Sensitive Content. At this time, there is no age restriction applied to viewing the “Lil Nas X - MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) (Official Video)” music video which is tied to the promotional materials for the Satan Shoes by Lil Nas X and MSCHF. The lack of age restriction means it could be viewed by children of all ages. We are also asking YouTube to remove the video titled “Lil Nas X Apologizes for Satan Shoe” as the title is misleading.
