The Issue

Decent people around the world know that animal cruelty is wrong and has no place in a civilized society.  Facebook continues to allow pages that promote violence towards animals and users that post their own personal acts of violence toward animals.  Many users wish to have Facebook block these pages, which in theory is good, but does nothing to bring these violent criminals to justice.  Blocking these pages will only put these criminals back into the shadows to quietly commit these horrible acts.

What I am proposing is that instead of blocking these vile pages Facebook give users an easy way to report these pages or individuals to the proper authorities. Whether it be Interpol, the FBI, or whatever agency it takes to find these criminals and prosecute them for their crimes.  Facebook could easily add a "Report to Authorities" option in addition to the option to report a page, pic, video, or person to Facebook.

Facebook could also assist law enforcement by providing any information they have regarding IP addresses and records they have of the sources of the pro-cruelty pages in addition to copies of the pics and videos posted showing the crimes.  The criminals willingly post evidence of their crimes which can be used to prosecute them.

It's time to stand up for animals and make the people that harm them pay for their heinous acts.  Blocking them only hides their actions.  Reporting them, catching them, and prosecuting them can help stop further acts of violence and send a message to the lot of them that their cruelty will no longer be tolerated in this world.

Ask Facebook to make a stand with us to catch and stop animal abusers that use their system to promote cruelty.
