Hi my name is Shavondea Wesley. I live in New Bern N.C. Today both of my pit bulls Rocco and Rosie was shot in the head. The dogs where still puppies. I got a phone call from my brother that My dogs was dead and the Sheriff then got on the phone and explained what happened and asked me how fast could I get there. I arrived and they got my information and I gave them my dogs paperwork and the animal police was there too. They then went into more details. They stated the person who shot my dogs(Carnell Pearson) claimed to be attacking cats and he tried to stop them and they wouldn’t stop and that the dog tried to bite him so he shot them both. He shot both my dogs in the head. My dogs are not aggressive and never even growl. They allow anyone to touch them. They also are scary will sit or lay down when people they don’t know comes up to them. They are babies and don’t know any better. The animal police and Sheriff both said they wasn’t buying it and that it was Animal cruelty. He was arrested and charged with two felonies of Animal Cruelty. The magistrate allowed him to sign a written promise and he was free not even locked up for 2mins. My dogs was my kids emotional support dogs. My step daughter daddy was going to buy her one of the puppies but he died 2weeks before the puppies could be detached from their momma. The owner of the litter reached out to us and said he was willing to let my step-daughter  have the puppy for free. She insisted on a girl although I tried my hardest to get her to get a boy and she wouldn’t Change her mind so we got the girl puppy at 6weeks and I also turned around and brought her brother. We then had two puppies and they was going to be house dogs but then someone reported the puppies and we had to let them go live at my grandma house. These dogs was loved and had a lot of love and a joyful spirit. My step daughter and daughter are now 7 & 5 they are both in therapy and the dogs help them get into a better mood. We had to go wash them, take them toys, have lots of treats and we even still carried them the vet. The dogs was more than a pet to us. These dogs was OUR FAMILY and BRIGHTER DAYS FOR US. Please take MY STORY let it be heard don’t let it be thrown under the rug. Please please speak out and let their lives be heard. We have been crying every since the news and we just don’t know what else to do. Our precious babies life was taken way to soon.
