I would like Facebook to uphold their own Community Standards and to remove pages that support dog fighting from Facebook. 

Facebook’s Community Standards state that: 

"experiences and issues involve graphic content that is of public interest or concern, such as human rights abuses or acts of terrorism. In many instances, when people share this type of content, it is to condemn it. However, graphic images shared for sadistic effect or to celebrate or glorify violence have no place on our site."

These standards state that it is ok to share and condemn issues that involve graphic content that is of public interest and concern. And yet, I, along with many other concerned Facebookers, have reported photos and pages that DON'T condemn, but encourage, celebrate, and glorify this disgusting and violent ‘sport’, and we have received the same or similar response such as this:

“Thank you for taking the time to report something that you feel may violate our Community Standards. Reports like yours are an important part of making Facebook a safe and welcoming environment. We reviewed the photo you reported for containing graphic violence and found that it doesn’t violate our community standards.”

I have no problem with people and groups sharing these issues to promote and raise awareness. Animal cruelty is widespread and it is horrifying. But by allowing these dog fighting rings to post photos and videos of their fights on Facebook, it shows that Facebook condones this behaviour, and that it does indeed have a place on their site.

As Edmund Burke once said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
