PUBLIC CONVERSATION SPACES AND SOCIAL NETWORKS ON THE NET ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN OTHER PUBLIC SPACES SUCH AS RESTRAURANTS, RESTROOMS, GOLF COURSES, BUSSES, SOCIAL CLUBS AND SUCH. CITIZENS USING THEM ARE ENTITLED TO PROTECTION FROM ARBITRARY EXCLUSION OR UNWARRANTED INVASIONS OF THEIR PRIVACY. 

FACEBOOK IS NOT MARK ZUKERBERG'S HOME, NOR A PRIVATE PLAYPEN WHERE HE IS FREE TO ABUSE THE RIGHTS OF USERS UNDER THE COVER OF "OWNERSHIP".  THOSE DAYS MUST COME TO AN END FOR  PUBLIC ACCOMODATIONS IN VIRTUAL SPACE, JUST AS THEY DID WITH THE HARD WON CIVIL RIGHTS FOR PEOPLE ON THE GROUND.

'Red Slider' is my real,legal name - the one my family, friends and all FB friends and contacts know me by.  FACEBOOK has arbitrarily, capriciously and wrongfully blocked my accounts on the basis of its claim of a "real name" policy violation.

THE OUTRAGEOUS BEHAVIOR OF FACEBOOK MUST CEASE!

-- I have spent nearly 10 years building the friendships, associations and my own reputation on facebook as a solid, contributing member of the community,. I have freely offered my thoughts and writings for others. My relationships have always been respectful and liked by my friends. 

-- Not only has Facebook's wrongful action severed those relationships and made it impossible for me to retrieve important materials that were on my accounts, but it has also damaged the ability of the Sacramento Z Newspaper, which I edit (http://saczee.com), ; to function by locking The Z Newspaper FB groups that were associated with my account.

THE VIOLATION OF THE RIGHTS OF ANY NET CITIZEN IS A VIOLATION OF THE RIGHTS OF ALL NET CITIZENS -- PUT AN END TO CORPORATE INJUSTICE ON THE NET!

-- PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION -  Not only for me and the newspaper's sake, but to begin to demand that our social networks treat their users as citizens with rights to be treated with respect. Our virtual conversation spaces on the net are really no different than other public conversation spaces -- restraurants, golf courses, social clubs and such --  ones we had to fight for civil rights legislation to end centuries of arbitrary exclusion, denial of service and other violations of the basic rights of citizens.  The conversational spaces on the net -- our social networks -- are no different. 

The courts may not have caught up with that fact, but we must begin now to end this era of corporate violations of basic human rights and their arrogant perception that they can write the laws as they please simply because they own something.  That wasn't true for the freedom marchers in the 60's.  It isn't true for the corporate bullies that have muscled the net away from us for their own greed and selfish ambitions.  PUT A STOP TO IT NOW.  SIGN THE PETITION.
