The current FACEBOOK policy of requiring real names is deeply flawed and needs to be revised. As it stands, some people are being put at risk of grave personal danger by revealing their true identities. Vulnerable populations such as domestic violence victims, LBGTQA community members and countless others use their anonymity to shield themselves from their abusers, tormentors and other miscreants. In many cases, personal relationships and communications on FACEBOOK are important links to their health and over all well being. Requiring real name public usage is ill advised for many and in fact, has and will prevent people from accessing their own social networks.

Therefore, we the undersigned request that the FACEBOOK policy of suspending accounts for pseudonym usage be revised in a way that respects the personal privacy and safety of vulnerable people.
