Each year, approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized (1.2 million dogs and 1.4 million cats) Many “FREE” pets are used in Dogfighting rings as “bait dogs” for training purposes. The Dogfighter does not want to risk injury to their dogs so the “FREE” dogs are used, or they will take a “FREE” dog and train those to be fighters. It’s not just dogs who become victims of dogfighting rings. Dogfighters also use cats or kittens as “bait” for training purposes. Re-homing or a free Purebred, unaltered dogs will result in the dog being chosen by a puppy mill breeder to spend the rest of his/her life in a cage scared, unloved, and just a breeding machine! There are people who troll Facebook and other Social Media sites just for “re-home” or “free” pets. Many of these “free” pets are lost or stolen family pets that will been taken by predators to re-sale to make money or sold to laboratories. If you want a pet go to a shelter and adopt. If you can no longer look after a pet take it to rehoming charity.
