Dear Stop the Chop NY/NJ friends and supporters,
URGENT ACTION ITEM!!!!
Earlier this week, NY State Senator Brad Hoylman and Assembly Member Richard Gottfried’s "Stop the Chop Act" (S.7493A) was delivered to Governor Kathy Hochul, which means we have just days to see this bill passed into law! The Governor has until December 23 to sign or veto the bill.
CONTACT GOVERNOR HOCHUL NOW to tell her to sign this bill! Call the Governor at (518) 474-8390 and/or submit your comments here: https://www.governor.ny.gov/content/governor-contact-form
This bill, the first major legislation addressing New York City’s helicopter problems to advance at any level of government, was approved by an overwhelming bipartisan majority in the Legislature; now Governor Hochul must sign it before December 23!!!!
If signed, the "Stop the Chop" Act would:
- Put an end to the incessant tourist helicopters from New Jersey and other irresponsible operators that are plaguing New York City with noise and pollution;
- Limit the use of non-essential helicopters in Hudson River Park;
- Allow the attorney general and private citizens to sue out-of-state tourist helicopters or other helicopters that flout NYC or FAA rules that cause a nuisance interfering with the use and enjoyment of private property or public parks.
Contact Gov Huchol now and share widely with your friends, family, and neighbors!

Stop the Chop NY/NJ is a grassroots organization dedicated to the elimination of non-essential helicopters from the New York metropolitan area. Non-essential (tourist, charter and commuter) helicopter flights dramatically reduce the quality of life for millions of people in the New York metropolitan area. They pollute our environment, pose significant safety risks, harm our children, and make us miserable.
