Hope has always been a double-edge sword for social progress. It is the reason for people who have been affected by life’s circumstances to come together and try to better the world. It is also the reason that many people stand aside and hope that things will change without taking a stand.

            F.U.S.E. was created in order to show Florida university students that action can be taken to combat the blatant Islamophobia and xenophobic actions of this current administration. This is a protest for the fragmented majority. Those who cannot have their voice heard individually, but as a collective identity we can strive together to have our voices heard from those in power.

            We are gathering the LGTBQ community, Black Lives Matter, Gender Equality groups, libertarians, Democrats, and Latin-American groups. This is a coalition to serve as a catalyst for building a better tomorrow; where citizenship is not judge just by location of birth, but civic duty to those around you.

            On February 17, we will be holding a protest that is statewide and student led that spans from South Florida to the Panhandle. This coincides with the National Strike-Day; the goal being to come together to speak out against the assault on Human Rights in this country. All those who are able are encouraged to get involved. The Travel Ban might have been overruled and deemed unconstitutional but the philosophy behind it has not changed. The current administration continues to assault the Constitution and those of different religion and ethnic background.

This petition endorses the right of every Florida University student to have a safe and equal opportunity to pursue their education. After receiving 10,000 signatures this petition will be sent to every administration in Florida forcing the University system to take a public stance against the current immigration policy. It is up to us as the next generation to make our voices heard. Sign the petition, support your local protest, and always stand up for what you believe in. It is the only good fight there is!
