Extend the University of Warwick Co-op's opening hours to midnight

Extend the University of Warwick Co-op's opening hours to midnight
The Issue
As students of the University of Warwick, many of us find ourselves engrossed in late-night study sessions or enjoying events like "Pop" on campus. During these times, the need for quick access to snacks and essentials is ever-present. However, the limitation of the university's co-op store closing at 8pm hinders our ability to make those purchases when we need them the most. We believe that extending the co-op's operating hours would not only make life more convenient for us students, but also prove to be financially beneficial for the store.
Currently, the co-op remains open until midnight on Mondays. We propose extending these hours to offer the same service every night from Monday to Saturday. Such an extension would accommodate our diverse schedules and needs, allowing us to purchase items readily without venturing far from campus or waiting until the next day. This change would foster a better campus environment, providing a sense of security and accessibility.
Moreover, by extending operational hours to midnight, the co-op stands to capture significant sales that are currently being missed after 8pm. Many students expressed willingness to spend on snacks during their late-night activities, suggesting a missed opportunity for the store to increase its revenue. The potential increase in sales could justify any additional staffing or operational costs associated with the extended hours.
In light of these reasons, we urge the decision-makers at the University of Warwick to consider this change. By aligning the co-op's hours with students' lifestyles, the university would not only enhance student satisfaction but also bolster its community's sense of involvement and inclusivity. The benefits for both students and the co-op’s business case strongly support a transition to a midnight closing time, Monday through Saturday.
Please support us in making this necessary change by signing this petition. Together, we can work towards a campus that truly caters to the needs of its students, ensuring that our academic and social experiences are the best they can be.
